I think I am with Jackie on this whole primal scream therapy thing. It makes sense really, when you think about it....
Sadly, I don't know where to begin to start talking about it at this time, so I will just say, I am wishing for landlord Shirley back in Vancouver. At least the mouse-infested shack, that had very little heat or running water was ours. It may have been a dive, but it was ours and we did our best to make it feel like home. Perhaps I am just looking at it with rose coloured glasses, but right now, I am longing for, but I need to get out of here....like yesterday. I may have to fore go Garth Brooks, but if I don't move, this is not going to end well.

30s are going to rock!

Several times in the past seven-and-a-half months my editor has told me that life really starts in your 30s. Most of the time, I simply rolled my eyes, like "Yeah, whatever Dana" and kept on dreading that huge number. Today, however, I think I am starting to believe what he says may actually be true. You see, just two short weeks ago, I heard the blessed words coming from Garth Brooks mouth "If you wait for me, I will come back". Only two short weeks ago, I drove to Saskatoon to sit in a movie theatre to watch his live performance from Kansas City. Only two weeks ago, I shrieked as I heard those words uttered from his lips. Only two short weeks ago, my hope of seeing Garth live in concert had been renewed. Tonight, I learned he was having a benefit concert at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on January 26, only five short days before my birthday. Happy 30th birthday to me:) Am I crazy for wanting to go? My friends certainly think so. Can I afford to go? Certainly not. Do, I care? Certainly not. I cannot even begin to express (and I am a writer) exactly what being able to go to a Garth concert would mean to me. Throughout life's ups and downs, there has always been Garth Brooks. As tacky as that may sound....it is true. For over half of my life, I have enjoyed listening to his music, and not only hearing the music, but also the lyrics. Through his songs I have gotten inspiration and encouragement. While life really really sucked at some points, I knew I could always pull out my Garth tape (it has been that long), and then his CD to make me smile....and to just make my heart happy. Yes, my 30s are definitely looking up. So the question is --- who wants to go celebrate my 30th birthday with me?? It would be an adventure to definitely remember. (BTW, I already have the cheapest way possible figured out to go there)
Adios...I have to try to sleep now...but who can with all this excitement?

'Tis the season to be jolly

This pic makes me smile. No, it is not the fresh coating of snow in Lloydminster. This was taken pretty much a year ago....Lanark Street, Vancouver, B.C. I missed two days of school, and nothing is as funny as watching Vancovuerites trying to figure out what to do....haha
On the other hand, it is really cold here, and I think I should move somewhere much warmer....like Mexico. Who is with me?
Hello hello hello.....It's been much too long since I blogged, and I thought that instead of going back to my old and very boring blog, I would start a new one. I'm not holding my breath, but we will see how it goes.
So, how is everyone? As I begin this new blog, I must tell you that I am pretty grouchy at the moment as my living situation is less than reasonable. Let's just say, it makes anything I went through in Vancouver seem like a walk in a rainy park. Yes, I have a roof over my head, and yes, there is hot water to shower. For that, I am thankful, but for everything else, I am not so happy. Luckily, my future is mine, and if I am not happy, I should change it, right? So, in the next little while, I will move yet again to....well....I am not too sure yet, but I know something will work out.
'Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la.
Everything else is going well though. I have been in Lloyd almost 8 months...8! Can you believe that? Most of the time I can't. But I love my job and work with some really great people. My editor is superb (one of the best bosses ever) as I have learned so much from him and there is still so much more to learn. It's amazing working at a job you love...in fact, it doesn't even seem like I am going to work. Getting paid for doing something you enjoy isn't working at all. All that being said, I am sooooo looking forward to when I become eligible for holidays in April. Where will I go? What will I do? So many ideas, and so little money....haha. I haven't really had time off since before I moved to Vancouver in August '06, and well, I am running out of steam and sometimes feel like my writing is an indication of my lack of steaminess. (Yeah, so that makes no sense.)
Who knows what the future holds....but for the first time in my life, I can tell you that I am truly completely happy where I am. And while there are things in my life that need to be figured out, I know it will all be OK.
