Best year ever!
I seriously feel as though 2010 is the very best year of my life. OK, so it started off very badly, and I had to restart 2010 on February 1, but that's my birthday, so it was definitely a superb day. But since then the year has just kept improving. The end of February marked Joleen and I getting Garth Brooks tickets! And then the excitement for Aug. 6 has just been growing since that day. Seriously. Words cannot even begin to describe how I feel. May was a bit challenging with moving and my car, but it all worked out because I am now the proud owner of a 2010 Toyota Corolla. Her name is Karma and she's so pretty. I am still getting used to a reliable vehicle that is crazy superb on gas. I'm so lucky. And now, in just a little more than a month, Joleen and I will be in Vegas to see Garth Brooks. Can life get any sweeter? In October, I'm planning on heading to Victoria with Karen and Kim. Good times. Good times. So yes, things are only getting better :)
My new set of wheels :)

LIVING THE DREAM

On my lunch break ...
I could say this months sucks. I have to move, my car broke down, I am broke and well, it's May. I don't need to say much more than that. But I won't say this month sucks. This month is what it is - maybe a little challenging :) But just like any other month during the year, full of ups and downs. I won't let the downs define who I am, and I won't play victim to any of the crap life hands me, because life will hand us all crap from time to time. The question is will you stand at the sidelines, waiting for life to pass you by or will you take charge, decide what you truly want, and go from there? The decision is yours, just as the decision is mine in my life.
And besides ... I've got August 6 to look forward to, and no matter how frustrated I may get or how broke I may be between now and then, I know it will all be worth it when I finally get to see Garth.
So choose your path, choose your destiny and don't wait for other people to define who you are. And if you wait for other people to define you - don't play silent victim.
Over and out. Lunch is over, and I need to get some work done.

After midnight
It is just after midnight. 12:13 a.m. to be exact. I went to bed earlier than my body thought I should, and now I am awake. I tossed and turned for a short while, but that didn't turn into sleep - although I may have gotten close a few times - and now I'm killing some time on this lovely little machine called the computer. I hear the whirling of the fan and not much else. Perhaps I'm hungry, but that would require getting my butt out of bed to go drink some milk. Although the more I think about it, the more I'll want to get up and have some. haha.
But that is all. I suppose I should try that thing they call sleeping. Hopefully I don't have anymore strange dreams that Abbie is going to boil the cats because she is out of food.
Yep, my alarm will be going off in six hours. Oh the fun :)

Positive thoughts
Life is truly what you make it. If you expect it to be bad, for your luck to suck or for things to just go wrong in general, you can be guaranteed, they will. Is life always easy? No way, but you can always choose how to respond to the crap you can't control.
I'm choosing for life to be good. Have the last few months been easy? I'd have to respond with a no. Have I wanted to throw things and scream at the world? The answer would be yes. But I read a book called The Secret. It's simply about the stuff you put out in the universe (whether positive, negative or otherwise), will come back to you. If you put positive thoughts out there, those thoughts will come back to you. It was compared having a song stuck in your head. The more you think about the song, the more it gets stuck in your head. Same thing when you are miserable in your negative thoughts. When it feels like you can't get out of an unhappy rut, it's because you are keeping yourself there. If you keep thinking negative thoughts, they will become overpowering. One positive thought can steamroll into thousands more. Am I always happy? No, but I've been working on being positive - even when I don't think there is anything to be positive about. And the things I can't control I just have to give to God, because they are things I don't have any control over. But I'll continue to choose who I react to the the things I can't control.
So, through reading this book I realized something. I finished school almost three years ago, and was so happy to be done school that I forgot to set another dream, another goal. Without dreams and goals we really just meander our way through life in a pointless direction. It's no wonder I've been unhappy with where my life was at this past year. I lacked any focus and for that reason, I didn't care much either. So now, I've got a new goal, a new purpose. And while I achieve that goal, I will stay in Lloydminster, and I am choosing to be happy with my job (even though there are some things I'd like to change). I know I still have more to learn there, and I'm looking forward to where the next few years will take me, because I know it will be good!

Where is the Christmas spirit?
With only one week until Christmas Day, I can't find any Christmas spirit? I'll be honest with you. I haven't started Christmas shopping and would be quite satisfied if the presents somehow bought themselves. I have nothing in the place that remotely looks festive, and to be truthful, I like it that way. I change any radio stations when a holiday song comes on -- in fact, I don't think I've listened to one Christmas song the whole way through. You may just want to call me Scrooge.
